Introduction to Fencing - December 2015

Description:

When people come to us to learn to fence, we always ask, "what made you come to this class?"  Inevitably, they say "I've always wanted to learn to fence."  (Even those 9-year-olds.  They've always wanted to learn -- too many pirate movies, me thinks.)

So, what about you?  Yeah, you, there, sitting on the couch surfing the internet.    What are you waiting for?  Sign up for TFC's Introduction to Fencing class, and we'll fill your head so chock-full of everything "fencing" that you'll be doing advance-lunge-retreat in your sleep for the next week!

This class is open to guys and gals ages 9 and up; groups are welcome, but class size is limited to 10.  Registration for this class opens October 15th and will close at 5 pm on November 24thYou MUST preregister and prepay; no at-the-door registration, no exceptions.   Register early, this class often fills up quickly.

The fee for the 4-week class, held the first two Tuesdays and Thursdays in December from 7 to 8 pm, is $65.

Come to this fun and informative class and learn:

  • A brief history of Fencing
  • Fencing  weapons – foil, sabre and epee  and general rules for the specific weapons
  • Strip etiquette
  • Basics techniques:  en garde, advance, retreat, attack, parry, and riposte
  • Beginning Bouting

This class requires active participation -- you will be moving.  You don't need to bring anything except a bottle of water, a pair of tennis shoes and long pants.  We provide all the protective gear and weapons.  Come on, join us and find out what it's like to stab your friends!  Be there by 6:30 to get measured for gear and to get any additional paperwork out of the way.

Graduation from Introduction to Fencing is a prerequisite to Fencing I.
