Bronze (Beginning) Foil Fencing (10-weeks)

Date & Time:  We are currently not offering a regularly scheduled BRONZE class.  But if you are interested we can work with you an an individual basis 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday nights.
Location:  Gymnasium of the Highland Park Christian Church, 5708 East 31st Street, Tulsa, OK 74135.  Please check our Location and Time page for driving directions.
Price:  Course fee is included in TFC Annual Membership Dues.

Traditionally, this is the first class of all fencers.  Fencers are taught the basic fencing phrase of attack, parry, reposte and remise while utilitizing the proper footwork, grip and sword positions.  Fencers will be taught various drills and exercises that they can practice at home.  Fencers will be expected to purchase their own non-electric foil fencing equipment.  At a minimum, this includes:

  • Mask
  • Jacket
  • Glove
  • Non-electric foil (35 inch blade with a French grip with your choice of left- or right-handed)
  • Bag (optional but often included with “starter” sets

Other items such as a lame , body cord and electric foil (with either a French grip or pistol grip) are not required until the Intermediate Foil Class.  Fencing pants (knickers) with knee-length socks are not required for TFC classes or tournaments.  Many fencers wear sweats, blue jeans, or even karate pants.  But what ever is worn must fully cover the skin.

The Tulsa Fencing Club will be glad to provide equipment during the beginning weeks of the class since orders from most online fencing vendors experience some type of delay.  Please let us know in advance if this is necessary.

Successful completion of this course or its equivalent is required before Club Members may utilize the electronic scoring equipment and reels.

We also ask that Students, Parents and Club Members abide by the Club Policies.

Epee Classes

We are not currently offering any Epee classes.  However, if you are interested we have several Club Members that are available to work with you on an individual or small group basis on Tuesday nights from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  We have started using the GoPro Hero2 HD cameras to help with our classes.  Come try out our new “Fencing Cam”!
